Learn How To Replace PSP Slim Analog Joystick

A broken analog joystick is one of the most common PSP slim problems. Well, it can be replaced without doing any major PSP surgery. Most likely the symptoms of broken joystick are stick move on it own, stuck in one direction and top plastic part broken off.

Couple of tools that needed before the repair work start: a couple of small screwdrivers either Phillips or Flathead will be fine and of course new PSP slim analog joystick, you can get it at Amazon.com.

Step 1.

To get to the PSP slim analog stick you have to remove the faceplate (and void the warranty). First, you need to take off the total 5 screws holding the faceplate on the back of the PSP using the Phillips head screwdriver. Place yourself properly before take off the face plate and make sure not to lose the screws. You don't have to remove the screen to remove the analog stick.

Step 2.

Lift the analog stick up and slide it out to the left. You might have to wiggle it around a little bit, but it will come out. Circled in green is the little plastic contact that lets the joystick talk to the motherboard.

Step 3.

This is a shot of the joystick with the cap removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Learn Tips To Replace Your Cracked PSP LCD Screen

Well, there are few tools that you need to prepare before start the work: a Phillips head Ph000 screwdriver, a small flat head screwdriver and a replacement LCD screen.

Step 1

Remove the total 5 screws holding the faceplate on the back of the PSP using the Phillips head screwdriver. Ground yourself before take off the face plate and make sure not to lose the screws.

Step 2

Remove control button strip. The control button located bottom of the LCD. To remove the control buttons strip you must use a flat head screwdriver to pry the control buttons away from the LCD metal casing. The best way to get it off is to pry it off from the sides.

When you have pryed the button strip off you must then take off the cable connecting it to the Sony PSP.

Then you can pulling the brown latch towards the yellow ac power connector. After you have the latch pulled up the cable then will be free to pull out.

Step 3

Take off the Metal Case Holding the LCD. To remove the LCD case you must slide a flat head screwdriver down the side of the case at the points. When you have pryed the case up please lay it face front down because it is still connected to the PSP through cables. These cables can be easily removed by using your nail to pull up the black latches.

Step 4

Remove the Metal Case around the back light and LCD screen. To remove the metal case all you have to do is to pry it apart at the points, you can use screwdriver to remove the LCD from the metal case. Sometimes it may be stuck by adhesive so just keep pulling gently until you have it completely away from the LCD and back light.

Step 5

Take off the LCD from the back light (Skip this if you have bought a back light and LCD) Actually, you can do this easily by inserting a small flat head screwdriver at the point and then prying up the LCD. The back light usually stuck to the LCD so go very slowly when prying them apart.

Step 6

Final Step- Reverse the installation process by put Back Everything Together

Before you put the LCD and back light together you must remove the protective plastic on the back of the LCD. Now just click the LCD into the back light and remove the protective plastic on the front of the LCD.

Now just click the LCD and the back light into the metal case and just put the cables in the slots and make sure you click the latches back down. After that, just click the metal case into the Sony PSP.

After that, you need to put the control buttons strip cable into its slot and click down the brown latch. Then click the control buttons strip onto the bottom of the LCD metal case. Finally you just need screw your face plate back on.
