WENG KEEN asked:

Are you loosing your weekend fun every time stuck joystick happen on your PSP and need to send to tech guy for repair? No doubt, i'm facing exactly the same problem before and end up need to cost me huge bucks charge by Sony Service center. Now let me show you how you can actually repair it by yourself.

Learn How To Replace PSP Slim Analog Joystick

A broken analog joystick is one of the most common PSP slim problems. Well, it can be replaced without doing any major PSP surgery. Most likely the symptoms of broken joystick are stick move on it own, stuck in one direction and top plastic part broken off.

Couple of tools that needed before the repair work start: a couple of small screwdrivers either Phillips or Flathead will be fine and of course new PSP slim analog joystick, you can get it at Amazon.com.

Step 1.

To get to the PSP slim analog stick you have to remove the faceplate (and void the warranty). First, you need to take off the total 5 screws holding the faceplate on the back of the PSP using the Phillips head screwdriver. Place yourself properly before take off the face plate and make sure not to lose the screws. You don't have to remove the screen to remove the analog stick.

Step 2.

Lift the analog stick up and slide it out to the left. You might have to wiggle it around a little bit, but it will come out. Circled in green is the little plastic contact that lets the joystick talk to the motherboard.

Step 3.

This is a shot of the joystick with the cap removed. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Checkout more tips on Sony PSP Repair Manual

Learn Tips To Replace Your Cracked PSP LCD Screen

Well, there are few tools that you need to prepare before start the work: a Phillips head Ph000 screwdriver, a small flat head screwdriver and a replacement LCD screen.

Step 1

Remove the total 5 screws holding the faceplate on the back of the PSP using the Phillips head screwdriver. Ground yourself before take off the face plate and make sure not to lose the screws.

Step 2

Remove control button strip. The control button located bottom of the LCD. To remove the control buttons strip you must use a flat head screwdriver to pry the control buttons away from the LCD metal casing. The best way to get it off is to pry it off from the sides.

When you have pryed the button strip off you must then take off the cable connecting it to the Sony PSP.

Then you can pulling the brown latch towards the yellow ac power connector. After you have the latch pulled up the cable then will be free to pull out.

Step 3

Take off the Metal Case Holding the LCD. To remove the LCD case you must slide a flat head screwdriver down the side of the case at the points. When you have pryed the case up please lay it face front down because it is still connected to the PSP through cables. These cables can be easily removed by using your nail to pull up the black latches.

Step 4

Remove the Metal Case around the back light and LCD screen. To remove the metal case all you have to do is to pry it apart at the points, you can use screwdriver to remove the LCD from the metal case. Sometimes it may be stuck by adhesive so just keep pulling gently until you have it completely away from the LCD and back light.

Step 5

Take off the LCD from the back light (Skip this if you have bought a back light and LCD) Actually, you can do this easily by inserting a small flat head screwdriver at the point and then prying up the LCD. The back light usually stuck to the LCD so go very slowly when prying them apart.

Step 6

Final Step- Reverse the installation process by put Back Everything Together

Before you put the LCD and back light together you must remove the protective plastic on the back of the LCD. Now just click the LCD into the back light and remove the protective plastic on the front of the LCD.

Now just click the LCD and the back light into the metal case and just put the cables in the slots and make sure you click the latches back down.

If you have a PSP (Playstation Portable) you will most likely already know that you can download anything you want for your game system. Everything from games and movies to music and themes are available for downloading to your PSP. As long as you have the hardware and a computer with internet access you can download all the games, movies and more for your hand held game system. There are three different methods of downloading the things you want for your PSP but only you can really decide which method is right for you.

Method One: Free downloading has been a very popular way of getting just about anything you want for your PSP without having to pay for it. Free downloads are very temping and let's face it who wouldn't want to get something for free if they could. Games are expensive and it can be hard to afford the ones you want so why not get it free. The bad news is that most sites that offer free downloads also have extra files attached, these files contain harmful viruses and spyware. Free downloading is also illegal because it is considered pirating.

Method Two: There are many sites on the web that offer all kinds of games, movies and more for your PSP. You may or may not have to join these sites but they usually have huge data bases filled with any game you could ever want for your PSP. The only problem you may have is where to store all the games you are downloading. The only catch to these types of sites is that they want you to pay a fee every time you download something. The fee is usually cheaper than it would be if you bought the game out right but after a while paying per download can be quite expensive.

Method Three: This is by far my favorite option for downloading anything for the PSP. There are many membership sites that you can join online where you can get all the games and other PSP stuff you could ever want. Membership sites offer you a lifetime membership for a small fee that is usually less than the price of one game. However, there are some sites that will charge a bit more than the price of one game to become a lifetime member. The one time fee is a small price to pay for getting all the downloads you want for the rest of your life without paying another cent.

These are all the options you have for downloading anything for the PSP. The choice is totally up to you but you may want to keep in mind everything that you have read above. You will also want to have good anti -spyware and anti-virus software on your computer before you begin your downloading experience. Viruses and spyware can ruin your computer, so it is better to play it safe than be sorry later, there are a few good anti virus and anti-spyware software that you can get for free.

There are lots of sites that offer the free PSP downloads on the internet. Some of the search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. give many links and almost all these sites are scams.

You have to remember the important things in mind while downloading PSP games from the internet. And also look for the credibility of a site before downloading the files. And to get the knowledge about these entire things you have to look into the points that have described below before selecting particular site for downloading.

1. Legal Site.

Here in this you need to think and make the right choice to select the site and check if the site is legal or not. Some of you may ignore this important aspect but this may cause the trouble to your PSP or PC. And they may get into the problems with the legal matters and they even have to give the explanation to about their downloading behavior to the ISP and other organizations.

2. Virus Problems.

The second thing you need to make sure is, whether the site is virus free. Many crazy people take your want to get free downloads as an opportunity to infect your system with a virus. For this particular reason I would like to keep away from such dangerous and harmful sites. In sites like these usually content is never scanned for viruses, I have had a horrible experience in the past that keeps haunting me even till today. So I completely avoid such sites.

3. Size of collection.

The third thing you need to look for is the volume of content available in their collection. Most of the best PSP download sites will not only allow you to download games but also music, wallpapers, videos and also movies. The toughest part though is finding such sites, it is a time consuming process and to find the best site you would have to first go through a lot of useless sites.

In early day when I bought the PSP I ran through to search to find the required material to download for my PSP. But later I realize that sites which I browsed are illegal sites and it infected my PC with the virus. I had a bad experienced with these sites so I hope that you should not fall into this. Just take all you decisions rightly with a lot of thought and you could have the best downloads in the world in really short time.

Jeremy Liner has analyzed over 42 PSP Game Downloads sites and finally decided that the absolute best service with the largest database and lowest entry cost is:...

The great advantage to owning a PSP over the many other portable games consoles available is that it has a built in WiFi system. Which means that the user can connect to the internet through any wireless hotspot service or to their home network without the need of cables. So being able to get PSP downloads is even easier than you first thought.

Then once it is has been connected to the internet it then allows you to be able to download games, videos, music and movies to it. But just where does one get downloads for the PSP from? In this article we will take a look at one of the sites you may want to consider getting downloads for your PSP from.

As you will soon discover there are a large number of sites offering such downloads however there are some which offer these for free. But not only are they probably illegal but in order to get them you may find that they end up costing you more because you download other unwanted files as well.

Therefore the other alternative you have available to you to use is those sites which ask you to pay a one off lifetime membership subscription fee instead. With these particular sites including PSP Blender Membership you will have access to unlimited downloads for your PSP and you will find that with this site and many like it you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to you choosing what you want to download on to your PSP.

So what are the benefits to be gained from joining a site like PSP Blender Membership?

1. It not only allows you to download all your favorite movies, TV shows, games, music and videos, but it also has PSP software that can be downloaded for free as well.

2. Every download you do from sites like these allow you to get a full and complete version of the movie, game, music or video that you have chosen.

3. As soon as your lifetime membership has been completed including your payment then you will find that you don't need to make any further payments after this. All you need to do now is log into your account search for the files you are interested in and begin downloading them. There are no restrictions on how many downloads you do each month or year. Really it is up to you.

So as you can see when it comes to getting PSP downloads the best place to consider using for such is a lifetime membership site such as PSP Blender. Not only will you be surprised what they have available on their databases but you will then be able to get even more enjoyment out of your PSP than you already are.

Have you been having problems in trying to get some great videos and movies downloaded on to your PSP without much success? In this article we are going to provide you with a number of tips to help with video downloads for PSP which will hopefully make the task that much easier for you in the future.

Firstly you will need to have the following equipment:-

1. Memory Stick – Preferably one that has 128mb of memory upon it (such as the Pro Duo) and which is ideal that videos can be played on it.

2. USB Cable – This you require in order to be able to connect your PSP to your PC and then you can copy the video files over that you have downloaded.

3. PSP – This goes without saying.

4. PC – Again this goes without saying.

5. DVD Ripper – This is required if you wish to put DVD’s on to your PSP.

6. Video

In order to download any videos on to your PSP they will first need to be converted and this is the way in which it should be done.

1. Firstly go in to settings on your PSP.
2. Next you need to attach your PSP to your PC by use of the USB cable.
3. Once the PC has recognized the PSP then you need to go to Video. If you have none there then you will need to create one.
4. If you need to go to a site which has a PSP video converter that you can download and do this and then install it on to your PC.
5. Now that this converter has been installed you will need to click on the convert tab then go and then click on current vision. After clicking on current version you then need to click on convert. At this stage you will be asked to choose the video format to which you want it converted to. Generally the convert formats available for PSP are WMV, AVI, MPG and FLV.
6. As soon as you chosen the format to which you want the video converted to all you need to do is click on the start button. As soon as this is done then you need to follow the next step as shown to you on the screen. But be prepared to wait a few minutes whilst the conversion takes place.
7. Once the video has been converted you then need to go to “My Documents”, “Converted Videos”, “PSP”, “MPEG-4AVC” folder and copy the video from their and into the Video folder on your PSP Memory Card.
8. As soon as the folder has been copied over then you just need to disconnect or cancel the USB connection between your PSP and PC.
Once you have carried out all the steps provided above then when it comes to video downloads for PSP devices you can now just select the video of your choice and start watching it.

Did you know it is possible to play all your old favorite gameboy games on a PSP? To do this you'll need to grab an emulator which is a bit of software that will interpret the games and make the necessary changes so that it appears on your PSP. In order to make use of the emulator you will firt need to downgrade your firmware to V1.50 as later ones prevent the emulator from working.

It is quite easy to find an older version of the firmware and a quick search of the internet will reveal several sites that have the files and full instructions.

Once you have the downgraded your PSP and installed the emulator it's just a matter of connecting your PSP to Your Computer and copy the game ROM's across to a subdirectory of the emulator.

As with PSP Downloads you can find many games online and some of the sites we have reviewed may be able to supply you with the relevant games.

There has been much confusion over the correct name of the latest version of Sony's premier handheld console the PSP. Journalists have referred to the latest version by several names so lets see if we can get to the bottom of the confusion. At the last count I have see it called by 5 different names. This confusion can only affect Sony in a negative way as it leads to customer confusion . You would think that Journalists would take the time to get such a simple thing as a name correct.

In an attempt to get rid of this confusion I've decided to see if i can get to the truth of what we should be calling the latest version of the PSP. The names I've seen used so far are:

PSP2000

PSP Slim

PSP Lite

PSP2K

PSP Slim and Lite

PSP Slimline

So lets get to the bottom of this...

The official designation for the latest PSP is the PSP2000 this follows on from the model number of the original PSP which was PSP1000. The Name by which Sony wish the PSP2000 to be known is the PSP Slim and Lite.

So there we have it the PSP 2000 should be known as the PSP Slim and Lite so all other designations are technically incorrect...but any way I am now off to play with my PSP lite

On the face of it the changes are subtle but a closer look will reveal the following..

Internal Memory (RAM) has been increaded from 32 MB to 64 MB, so more space for savegames

Wi-Fi Connection is better, the Wi-Fi Connection switch has been moved to the top of the handheld

UMD games and movies load faster because the PSP stores UMD data in its temporary memory

A better battery pack and the battery now recharges via USB data connection as well. The old PSP battery pack is still usable as well but the battery cover can’t be closed when using this old battery

A video-out port with composite cable for hooking your Sony PSP Slim&Lite up to your TV

The handheld has been reduced by 33%

The PSP Slim and Lite is 19% narrower, slimmer in thickness

The D-pad has been improved, it’s more like the PS3 SixAxis controller’s D-pad

Memory Stick slot has been relocated

The infra-red port has been removed

Speakers have been repositioned on the front of the PSP near the screen

Better UMD Loading tray, easier to use

We should know shortly if these changes have rally improved the PSP but given sony's recent record I have a feeling that a number of problem will soon appear.

Sony have announced that there will be 7 game titles available for download from the Playstation store when the service launches in 2008. Although primarily for the the Playstaiton 3 Sony are attempting to recruit games delevopers to make games available for both PSP Downloads and also PS3 Downloads.

The service should be very attractive to games developers and there will be larger profit margins due to there being no need for distribution networks and shipping. Expect the number of games to increase before the release date.

As mentioned in yesterdays news roundup Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron goes on sale today this will hopefully spark a few more sales of PSP's but I can't help thinking that people may be holding on for the PSP 2000 to arrive in the shops.

Finally today a bit of games news one of the most critically abused games of recent years has finally been released for the PSP. Spiderman 3 which received a host of negative comments when it was released on the DS has finally been schedule for release. Hopefully the time between the releases has enabled activision to improve the gameply.
